On July 4, YouTube chief Neal Mohan announced the launch of their new AI-powered song eraser tool for YouTube content creators. The announcement was made on the Twitter X platform, He said, good news creators, the updated eraser tool can remove the copyright-claimed music from the video without affecting other audio such as dialogues and sound effects.
Until now, content creators have been able to remove the copyright claims only after replacing the claimed audio with the audio from the YouTube library by trimming out the entire segment or muting the audio of the video. They can monetize the video only after the copyright of the song has been removed.
Previously this Erase song feature was only available as a beta feature to silence the copyrighted segments in the YouTube video. Due to the performance of the tool is not up to standards, the company has made big changes by incorporating AI, to accurately identify and remove the copyrighted segments.
Solution to remove the copyrighted music from the video, if the tool fails
In the announcement video, they said that the company has testing this tool for some time, it has been improved and can accurately detect the copyrighted music from the video by harnessing the power of AI.
On its support page, YouTube said that this new tool might not work always. Despite improvements with the help of AI, it might not work, if the song is hard to remove.
They also advised a solution for this, if this new tool fails to remove the copyrighted song, try some other options like muting the audio in the copyrighted segments.
Once the video is successfully edited using this tool, YouTube will lift the claim on that video. It ensures creators can use their content freely.

This new tool is a welcome addition for content creators, it streamlines the process of content creation, addresses copyright issues, and also gives more control over the video to the creators. Here are the simple steps to use YouTube’s New AI song eraser tool,
Steps to erase copyrighted songs from YouTube videos,
Step 1: Go to the YouTube studio on mobile or desktop
Step 2: Go to the copyright summary of that video
Step 3: Click the Select Action button
Step 4: Choose the Erase song option.
Step 5: After doing this AI will automatically erase the copyright-claimed music and YouTube will remove the content ID claim.
Steps to mute copyright song segments in YouTube videos,
Step 1: Go to the YouTube studio on mobile or desktop
Step 2: Go to the copyright summary of that video
Step 3: Click the Select Action button
Step 4: Choose the Mute all sound in the claimed segments.
Step 5: After this, AI will automatically mute the copyrighted music segments in the video, and YouTube will remove the content ID claim.
If you choose the mute all sound in the claimed segments option it will remove all the audio like dialogues and sound effects along with that copyrighted music, so it is better to choose the Erase Song option, it will only erase the copyrighted claimed song without affecting the voiceovers and other audios.
If you want to manually remove the copyright-claimed segments in the video, make sure you remove it all because YouTube also warned that if the copyrighted content remains in the video it won’t lift the claim and also doesn’t allow the channel to be monetization.
On its support page, YouTube also said that the processing time may vary once you make the edits. You can close the browser when the video is being processed, but you can’t make any changes or edits. The changes might not save if the video has more than 100,000 views but the channel is not in the YouTube Partner Program.

Youtube’s new privacy policy to protect users from AI Content
Last month, YouTube launched its privacy rules stating that users and creators can users can request to remove the AI-generated content meant to look or sound like them. It aimed to protect the users from AI content.
This new policy is stated in its YouTube Community Guidelines but it is in its new privacy policy suggesting that simulating someone with AI technology is a violation of user privacy.
If YouTube claims that this video is against the AI privacy policy, the video creator should remove the video instead of making it private. It is unique to the YouTube privacy policy which usually lets the creators change the video to private once it violates the community guidelines of YouTube.
