Physics Wallah
It was founded in 2016 by Alakh Pandey as a YouTube channel for students who are preparing for competitive exams. Later it became full full-fledged edtech startup by offering a wide range of courses. In the last few years, this company has been on an expansion spree.
Prateek Maheshwari joined as co-founder of PhysicsWallah in 2020. Last month, the co-founder Prateek Maheswari told Inc42 that it expects more than INR 2000 Cr in revenue in the upcoming financial year 2023-2024. She also told the company had already achieved INR 2000Cr revenue in January 2024.
Maheswari did not reveal the actual profit of PhysicsWallah, she said PW’s adjusted EBITDA will be around 80 Cr in FY24, from INR 119.6 Cr in FY23. PhysicsWallah entered a unicorn club by acquiring a $100 Million fund from Westbridge and GSV Ventures. Since then it has been expanding its offerings by making offline space for students and acquiring multiple startups and companies.
It also offers programs for postgraduates. It also runs an upskilling platform named PW Upskills for students. Earlier this month, PW ventured into offline education by offering classes for primary school students by its name PW Gurukulam School.
It also announced an INR 100 Cr investment for strengthening its UPSC course offering Platform UPSC vertical and INR 120 Cr for PW Skills.
The main competitors for PhysicsWallah are Byjus, Vedantu, Unacademy, and Allen. The main thing that differentiates PhysicsWallah and others is its personalized and adaptive learning experience offering for its students.
